hobd standalone wince does not start

Hi Cail, First off I just want to say that I really love your software and I am going to buy it as soon as I can figure out how to run it in my Car radio. I was successful in getting your software to run on my laptop and I love it. But my main purpose is to get it installed on my car radio.

I was unable to find a post to solve my problem so I apologize if I missed it or if I am posting in the wrong area.

I have tried to use the hobd win_ce standalone version on my unit. It is running windows CE 6.0. It must run from the sd card. There is not enough space on the drive to run from the unit itself.

1) When I get into windows CE 6.0 I find the sd card and find the hobd folder
2) When I double tap on the hobd.exe nothing happens. no error message, absolutely nothing. Almost as if it is not recognizing the taps. but I can tap other icons and the hobd.exe icon and they all get selected. Do you have any ideas, I have 128 mb ram with a RMI,mips 32-AU13xx processor 800 Mhz

When I double tap on other software from the SD Card I get (Depending if it is not compatible with windows CE 6.0) an error message "This application is not a valid windows ce application" or if it is compatible it will run from the SD Card.

If you need more information please let me know I am willing to do whatever you ask to get this to work.

Have you tried regular hobd package (not standalone?)
Also, try to download net37 framework files (the link is on hobd download page), and unpack them into the existing hobd-standalone folder. Some users reported they can run on .net3.7, but not .net3.5

Also, please check out if log.txt file is created or not.

Thank you for your quick response to my question. I now have tried the regular hobd package, and the standalone with the .net3.7 unpacked into the standalone folder. No go. I have not had much experience with Windows CE so I am not sure what to expect or why a program just does not load or even attempt to load.

Anymore ideas? My Radio is a UNAVI Radio X2 for Hyundai Sonata (second generation) First generation Genesis coupe models got this to work without any problems. Maybe the application is blocked somehow?

The most probable reason here then is missing or wrong system libraries, which hobdrive requires to be in place. Firmware manufacturer could limit WinCE with only minimum of required system files (DLLs).

Unfortunately it is difficult to analyse what is missing/wrong.

Attached is a tool which can analyse program dependencies. Please try running it and pointing to hobd.exe.

BTW, can you check if your CPU is ARM based? because default hobdrive-standalone targets only ARM cpu.
In case of MIPS you have to use mips version of standalone app,

I believe I have mips based CPU This is what the system says RMI,mips 32-AU13xx processor 800 Mhz. So Where can i get the Mips based Standalone version? I will try and run the PEInfo program to check its dependencies.

Yeah I am afraid that it will be the firmware causing this problem. I hope not. I will get back to you with the results. Thank you

ok I was able to get info from PEINFO. I was able to get a hex dump from PEINFO. Can you tell me what I am looking for? or can you tell me what you need from this program? There are two options one to save the file the other is to save dump.

First you have to try .net35 mips based.
I'll build a package probably tomorrow, until then you may try just download .netcf35 from microsoft and install netcf35-mips.cab package yourself

Hi Cail, OK I got it to work. This is what I have to do to get hobd to work. I will have to reinstall the netcf35-mipsii.cab on every start up onto the SDCARD. and use the regular version of hobd, not the standalone. Is there a way I can get all the required netcf35-mipsii files into the regular version of hobd without having to install the cab file every time? The radio unit seems to rewrite the flash memory or delete the non standard files on a shutdown of the radio. I could write a script to do it all but I am hoping that I can somehow include the necessary files in the folder essentially making another standalone version of hobd (I guess for mips processors like you stated up above). Anyway thank you very much for your help with this.

Glad for you. To eliminate the reinstall phase you have to put .netcf35 into hobd folder. This'll make eventually a hobd-standalone package but for mips platform.
To find all the required files, you may just compare content of the existing hobd-standalone package, and for each file in there find corresponding mips-based file in your system (windows, or maybe program files folder).

Sorry can't help you on this - I'm away of my work place. But think you can handle this on your own.

Good day Cail, I am having some problems getting hobdrive to work as a standalone mips version. The problem is when I copied all the dotnet files (Mips version) that I can find I get the following error. here is a picture of the error I get. http://i52.tinypic.com/oiu6ud.jpg Is there anyway that you or someone can create a standalone mips version of your hobdrive application because I am having no luck at all with this ha ha.

From your log I dont see that hobdrive crashes. It seems to startup fine.
What do you mean under "has to restart"? The unit is not usable after starting hobdrive?
Do you see hobdrive's main screen loaded?

The lock po hobdriver error port configuration with 9 and 10.
How do I set the port and baud with.
The path connects the driver when the interface has to be the Ftdi_ser.dll.
My only accepted Ftdi_2dxx.dll. can this be the problem of not connecting
